PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR Location: Sudbury, ON Come and join our team! The ideal candidate will direct and supervise plant production with overall responsibility for production, quality of the product and other production-related activities including basic problem solving and troubleshooting. Direct manufacturing operations through a team of production employees. Ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines. COMPENSATION With this opportunity, DSI Underground offers a compensation package including: \xc2\xb7 Competitive wages \xc2\xb7 Excellent Benefits Plan \xc2\xb7 Employer Contribution Pension Plan \xc2\xb7 Work Boot and Prescription Safety Glasses Allowances \xc2\xb7 Free Parking ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Functional Experience \xc2\xb7 Achieve/exceed production quality & quantity targets while maximizing economic resources and recovery. \xc2\xb7 Interface with management to ensure smooth coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence; provide input, identify needs and receive direction on staffing increases or decreases. \xc2\xb7 Ensure that direct reports and area of accountability meet all requirements with regards to legislated regulations, company policies and practices, and collective agreement \xc2\xb7 Assess assignments during shift to ensure that schedules are being attained, and/or take corrective actions as required. Complete all production and/or maintenance related reports and communicate status to oncoming shift(s), ensuring proper records are maintained and the correct information is documented. \xc2\xb7 Control inventories of consumables and supplies, and order materials to achieve production and/or maintenance schedules. \xc2\xb7 Continue with \xe2\x80\x9cLean\xe2\x80\x9d process initiatives. \xc2\xb7 Continuously look for opportunities for improvement regarding planning and scheduling functions that support internal customers. \xc2\xb7 Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs. People Development / People Management \xc2\xb7 Ensure crew qualifications are kept current for required work assignments, and schedule training as required. \xc2\xb7 Provide performance feedback to team members, ensure effective performance improvement plans are initiated and appropriate disciplinary action taken that aligns with company policies and meets corporate guidelines. \xc2\xb7 Review & communicate risk management situations with crew members at pre-shift discussions. Follow notification protocols for incidents and initiate on-shift investigations \xc2\xb7 Approve time for the team members within the area of responsibility \xc2\xb7 Motivates and challenges employees, delegates effectively, rewards contributions and manages collaboratively. \xc2\xb7 Manage staff and assigns specific duties \xc2\xb7 Coach & counsel employees on the standards of behavior, and take corrective actions as required, including discipline and grievance management Leadership \xc2\xb7 Continuously improve the performance of the production & maintenance frontline team through effective use of established processes and procedures. \xc2\xb7 Ensure that accountability exists among direct staff regarding agreed upon performance against standards and benchmarks and on performance towards achieving the departments goals and objectives. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES \xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal and people management skills. \xc2\xb7 Strong verbal/written communication skills. \xc2\xb7 Proficiency in the use of MS Office and adaptable to other software applications. \xc2\xb7 Ability to work and interface with all departments. \xc2\xb7 Ability to identify and resolve issues or concerns tactfully in a timely manner. \xc2\xb7 Ability to gather and analyze information \xc2\xb7 Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, instrumentation and control systems EXPERIENCE \xc2\xb7 3 to 5 years as a Supervisory and or Team Leader overseeing employees/Team Members in manufacturing environment is required \xc2\xb7 2 - 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience troubleshooting in an industrial environment \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of and experience with Lean and 5S principles \xc2\xb7 Experience working in an environment that was ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified EDUCATION \xc2\xb7 High School Diploma or GED Certificate DSI welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
