SUMMARY

Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Supervisor manages the day-to-day production activities throughout the plant. Supervises the production staff, and coordinates all aspects of production, staffing, scheduling and ensuring that all company objectives and environmental standards are met.

Expected Contributions:

  • Proactively promotes a safe work environment and ensures that all employees are knowledgeable and diligent in carrying out their duties.
  • Responsible for supervising and coaching up to 13 production staff.
  • Monitors inventory levels to determine production priorities and plan production schedules daily.
  • Ensures production volumes are met, downtime is limited and follows up with any problems that may occur.
  • Creates staff work assignments and adjusts accordingly to support production requirements.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and diagnosing machinery breakdowns with the General Manager to solve pump, valve, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical malfunctions.
  • Provides the proper orientation and training as required to ensure an efficient and effective work force.
  • Purchases supplies for mill maintenance, repairs and production requirements.
  • Control the inventory to retain maximum value and minimal waste.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a production facility.
  • Lumber manufacturing or wood preserving experience is desirable.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Production forecasting and scheduling experience.
  • Demonstrated competencies in leadership and communication.
  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Competent with MS office products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
EDUCATION
  • High school graduation
  • Diploma or certificate in business administration or operations is an asset
HOURS OF WORK
  • Monday through Friday
  • Day shift (6:00 am - 3:00 pm)
  • Must be flexible with start and finish time
Note: Hours may change due to operational requirements.
