Job Description

Access Precision Machining Ltd is located in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, one of the most beautiful places in Canada, and recently ranked #1 community in BC. Access Precision Machining incorporates the latest Mazak CNC tool technology with highly skilled journeyman machinists to service a variety of industries and applications. We also provide Waterjet Cutting, Fabrication, Welding, as well as Assembly and Testing Services. Our 35,000 sq-ft state-of-the-art facility (completed in 2015) is always kept in immaculate condition and is as well equipped as any machine shop in a major center.

Our shop works 4 - 10hr shifts Monday to Thursday, allowing for optional overtime on Friday's when available or regular long weekends to get out and enjoy all the Okanagan has to offer with your friends and family. Camping, boating, fishing, skiing and snowmobiling all right our your front door!

Access is currently looking for a Production Scheduler & Expeditor to learn and grow with our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Production Scheduling:



Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for CNC machining and fabrication projects. Collaborate with the Planning Department to align production timelines with customer delivery expectations and internal capacity. Coordinate with Shop Floor Supervisors to ensure schedule feasibility and resource availability. Monitor work-in-progress across departments and adjust schedules to accommodate changes, delays, or urgent priorities. Communicate schedule updates to CNC and fabrication leads, ensuring alignment across teams. Track and report on schedule adherence, production throughput, and capacity utilization.

Expediting and Workflow Coordination:



Identify and resolve bottlenecks or delays by expediting materials, tooling, certifications, or approvals. Liaise with purchasing to ensure timely delivery of raw materials, outsourced services, and consumables. Work with CNC and fabrication leads to prioritize tasks and balance workloads across departments. Ensure completed jobs are properly staged for inspection, packaging, and shipping.

Communication and Reporting:



Maintain clear and timely communication with the Production Manager, Planning Team, Shop Floor Supervisors, and other internal teams regarding schedule changes, priorities, and delivery risks. Prepare daily production status reports and communicate updates to the Production Manager. Participate in production meetings and provide input on scheduling strategies and improvements.

Continuous Improvement:



Identify opportunities to improve scheduling accuracy, reduce lead times, and increase shop efficiency. Support implementation of scheduling tools, ERP systems, and lean manufacturing practices. Assist in documenting standard operating procedures related to scheduling and expediting.

Analytics and Reporting:



Build and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor production performance, schedule adherence, and resource utilization. Develop custom metrics and KPIs to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Use data analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization. Create and run SQL queries to extract data from ERP and production systems for reporting and analysis. Present insights and recommendations to the Production Manager and Management team.

Knowledge and Skills:



High School Diploma required; post-secondary education in manufacturing, operations, or supply chain is an asset. Minimum 2 years' experience in a scheduling or expediting role, preferably in a CNC or fabrication environment. Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning tools. Experience with SQL and data analysis tools is strongly preferred. Understanding of machining processes, welding workflows, and material handling.

Interpersonal Skills:



Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate across departments. Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities. Proactive problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset. Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:



The work week is Monday to Thursday, 10 hours per day, starting at 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Significant interaction within the machine shop which requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety footwear. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
