Our Team

The Thompson Mines Technical Services (MTS) Team is integral to the success of the operations in being a safe and reliable producer. We aim to design and plan safe, sustainable ore extraction through technical excellence in the areas of geology, mine planning, ventilation, backfill, ground control, drill/blast, and survey control.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Production Planner to join our Mines Technical Services Team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position.

As the Operations Planner you will provide timely and accurate operating planning of requested work in concert with the requirements of the Production (VBM) and Development (CAF) functions. In this role you will be planning for the Thompson Underground Mines.

The Planner will plan and organize the work package to minimize impact on operating performance, and the demand for resources for effective and efficient work execution. The Planner will identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful planning of work orders for completion by the date required for the work to be completed.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Assemble ready to execute job packages.
  • Review the status of work orders to prioritize planning activities for approved work orders within area of responsibility daily.
  • Ensure the identification of resource requirements and readiness for execution prior to the date required for the work to be completed.
  • Encourage contribution of planning details from those expected to complete work.
  • Incorporate crew input into planning packages for work execution.
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful planning of work orders to meet completion deadlines.
  • Improve the efficiency of the planning process by developing and using standard jobs as templates.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve capital, operating, and maintenance projects.
  • Ensure that all work packages comply with applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Relieve supervisors as required.
About You

Education:
  • College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
Experience:
  • 3 years of experience in production supervision, production planning or an appropriate combination of education and experience
Skills:
  • Expert knowledge of MS office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in SAP
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor complex processes and coordinate critical activities.
  • Strong verbal, written and analytical communication skills.
  • Knowledge of codes and ability to read prints and schematics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
