Position Summary:
The role of the mechanic is to interpret drawings and parts as furnished and assemble either mechanically or through welding processes all projects according to strict deadlines and within industry tolerances. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of other team members in order to deliver projects according to plan. The mechanic will also review the project’s objectives with the plant manager and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
Responsibilities


  • Assemble processed parts

  • Understand how parts go together and weld / mechanically fasten together

  • Effectively communicate project expectations to assisting team members in a timely and clear fashion.

  • Communicate with Project Managers on an ongoing basis to overcome any and all potential and known issues with drawings

  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and communicate to plant manager - Seek assistance whenever required

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.


Position Requirements

  • 3-5 years of TIG/MIG Welding experience in the food manufacturing environment.

  • Technically competent with various bench tools such as grinders, drills,

  • Familiar with brake presses and sheers for comprehension of how parts come together

  • Ability to review and disseminate info from blueprints and auto CAD drawings

  • Familiar with manufacturing techniques and have the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing complexities and resolve issues

  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Periodic lifting of products up to 50 lbs

  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.

  • Flexible during times of change.

  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of team members

  • Familiar with stainless steel fabrication and using all hand tools.

  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

  • Internal and external Customer service skills a must

Work Conditions

  • Overtime work may be required to meet project deadlines.

  • Standing for extended periods of time.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate hand tools

  • May have to lift finished parts on to / off of work benches

  • Bending

  • Lifting – manually, with support of others, or with supplied lifting equipment commensurate to size of load – lifting tables, forklift equipment etc

  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
