The Production Manager assists and works closely with the Plant Manager with day-to-day production operations including production planning, production activities and quality control. The incumbent plays a key role in ensuring the successful operations of the plant.



Production/Operations:



Oversees preparation line (stacker), Mill, treating, shipping, receiving, maintenance and quality control activities Support plant manager with management duties Approve production orders and interacts frequently with the procurement and planning groups Collects, maintains and review production data for potential improvements Post production transactions in the ERP system (SAP) Actively participate in cycle and annual inventory Monitors quality and workmanship to ensure quality control Works closely with various departments to optimize inventory loss with maximum recovery Participates in facility improvements projects Available for on call for emergencies and alarms Performs other duties as assigned

Labour Management:



Planning of production schedules and communicate with Production Supervisor for labor requirements Manages payroll transactions Manages employee relations and performance management Handle job posting and recruitment Provides training for new hires Ensures plant guidelines are enforced Manages employees' vacation request Deals with Ministry of Labor on different issues/requests

Health and Safety and TRD programs:



Ensures that environmental and safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed Provides guidance on occupational health and safety programs and on the TRD program Trains employees on safety process and procedures Actively participates in the health and safety committee Assist the plant manager with workplace safety insurance board accident reporting Commits to plant safety policies and procedures

Qualifications:



Five or more years of work experience in the manufacturing industry required Three or more years of manufacturing plant leadership experience (in roles such as Production Manager or Supervisor) required; Experience in wood products manufacturing or a similar industrial manufacturing environment preferred Bachelor's degree preferred Knowledge of health and safety standards (ON)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and environmental policies and procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP (or other ERP systems)
