Production Employee \xe2\x80\x93 Door Shop
Reporting to the Door Shop Supervisor and working alongside other Shop Employees, the Door Shop Employee is responsible for assisting in the fabrication of all manufactured exterior doors. The position performs varying tasks including building, assembling, verifying factory items, quality checks, cutting, installing door lites, machine maintenance, fabricating custom doors while ensuring that the manufactured product meets or exceeds company standards. It operates a variety of tools and equipment in a shop while maintaining a safe, clean, and respectful work environment, and performs other related duties. Key responsibilities \xc2\xb7 Reading and interpreting computer-aided drawings and plans. \xc2\xb7 Reading and using a tape measure to measure doors, door lites and cutouts and/or door frames in accurate manner. \xc2\xb7 Cutting and manufacturing doorframes. \xc2\xb7 Sanding, cutting, selecting and inspecting of wood used for door assembly. \xc2\xb7 Safely operating hand, power and machine tools to drill, cut and assemble door frames. \xc2\xb7 Completing paperwork, including job sheets and quality assurance documents. \xc2\xb7 Maintains a clean and safe working environment Requirements \xc2\xb7 There is no formal certification required, although any certifications in construction, wood working or as a General Labourer are considered an asset. Experience handling tools and equipment in a safe manner, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical aptitude would be an asset. Experience in operating a forklift is desirable. \xc2\xb7 Knowledge and awareness of safety regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions \xc2\xb7 Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) \xc2\xb7 Good hand-eye coordination and good motor skills \xc2\xb7 Good communication skills in English \xc2\xb7 Demonstrate sound work ethics \xc2\xb7 Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive work \xc2\xb7 Ability to operate and handle tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner, \xc2\xb7 Ability to read and use a tape measure \xc2\xb7 Ability to read and interpret computer-aided drawings and plans \xc2\xb7 Ability to follow instructions \xc2\xb7 Ability to accept constructive criticism and work well under pressure \xc2\xb7 Willing and able to lift material weighing up to 50 lbs.
