The Bank of Canada has several Agency Operations Centers (AOCs), which are responsible for managing bank note inventories, authenticating, recirculating and destroying bank notes.
What you will do
Do you have a special interest or passion for working with bank notes and have specialized knowledge of all operational areas and have performed various functions related to the processing and distribution of valuables? This job could be for you.
We are looking for a production coordinator who will be responsible for providing immediate support to the team leader and replacing him or her as needed by ensuring the coordination of current planning and the efficient running of production activities.
More specifically you will:

  • coordinate day-to-day activities and organize human and material resources to ensure effectiveness of client service and achievement of the established work plan
  • provide support and advice to team members to help them solve problems, focus their efforts and maximize their contribution
  • perform in-depth level of verification, investigation and resolution of various operational problems
  • perform detailed verification and confirmation of data entered in various operational systems
  • make on-the-spot decisions and deals with non-routine issues with multiple options for resolution
  • maintain on-going liaison with management and support staff to ensure Team goals are well communicated
  • identify avenues for improving processes and procedures in effect and adherence to them. Make recommendations for improvement.
  • deal with many physical demands such as climbing conveyors, stairs, standing for long periods of time
  • operate a manual pump truck and be certified to operate a power Lift truck

What you will need to succeed
We are looking for some with:
  • ability to keep calm and work well under pressure
  • excellent written and interactive communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others through active listening and clear expression
  • ability to lead people so that agreed commitments are met
  • ability to effectively help others learn and acquire knowledge and skills by giving timely practical instruction, encouragement, and support
  • ability to be a team player and to lead a team by delegating work, clearly explaining tasks and ensuring that people are well informed
  • ability to demonstrate attention to detail and ensure accuracy and quality of tasks

Nice-to-have
  • knowledge of ISO 9001:2008
  • understanding of Bank Note Distribution System (BNDS) processes and procedures and their interface and relationship with Bank Note Operations
  • basic knowledge of the tasks related to the role of operations coordinator
  • in-depth knowledge and understanding of high-speed banknote processing systems (BPS 3000)
  • thorough knowledge and understanding of the use of computer systems (NES, SAP, C-Cure, Frontier and Financial Transaction and Billing Systems)

Your education and experience

This position requires high school education and three to five years relevant work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $52,450 to $61,705 (job grade 12)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (3 to 5% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (7% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
