Position Summary:
As a Production Assistant, you will provide support to the production team by assisting with tasks such as receiving, picking and packing, data input, light assembly and inventory control. You will ensure that production runs smoothly and efficiently, following safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team are important qualities for this role. This role reports directly to the production supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving: accept deliveries, compare them against packing lists and purchase orders, and verify the accuracy of the items received
Processing Paperwork: includes handling invoices, packing slips, scanning, and other relevant documentation related to incoming shipments
Storeroom and inventory control: update the ERP system with information about received items, ensure accurate inventory records; including cycle and physical inventory counts
Assisting with Production Tasks: including picking of work order components for technicians, light assembly, and packaging finished products
Packing of customer parts shipments
Support for packing of large, crated equipment
Material Handling - Moving materials and products within the production area, potentially using lifting equipment
Communicating with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow
Maintaining a Clean and Organized Workspace to ensure safety and efficiency
Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
40-hour workweek, Monday to Friday. 8:00 am - 4:30pm
Occasional overtime may be required
Office and manufacturing environment with occasional movement between departments.
Qualifications & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Ability to operate basic machinery and tools is an asset
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Adaptability, the ability to learn new tasks and procedures quickly
Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
Good communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work flexible schedules if needed
Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking
