Lead Production Assistant

to join our team

on-site

in our Calgary facility, on the evening shift working 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday).


THE ROLE





The Lead Production Assistant oversees daily production activities on the manufacturing floor, ensuring that quality and GMP standards, regulatory standards, production targets, and safety procedures are met.



This role includes hands-on participation in manufacturing processes, guiding other production employees, and ensuring timely, safe, and accurate production of pharmaceutical products. The lead acts as a liaison between the production team and other departments to help ensure smooth operations.


DAY-TO-DAY




Assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring daily production operations to meet schedule demands and quality targets. Ensure daily operations are conducted in compliance with GMP, SOPs, and safety protocols. Partake and lead a team of production workers in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables, or powders) and serve as the primary point of contact for the shift. Direct and participate in the stages of production, including compounding, weighing, mixing and packaging of products. Input production data into the ERP software. Monitor workflow and make real-time adjustments to meet production goals. Ensure team compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety regulations. Train and mentor new and existing employees on machinery, procedures, and safety protocols. Perform inspections to ensure product quality meets required standards. Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, and issues. Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams to address equipment or quality concerns. Communicate shift progress, issues, and updates to the production manager. Monitor and verify documentation, including batch records, logbooks, and cleaning records, for accuracy and completeness. Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and operated according to procedures. Assist in troubleshooting production issues and escalate problems to supervisors when necessary. Conduct in-process checks and assist in deviation and non-conformance investigations. Be agile in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Maintain proper gowning and hygiene standards in cleanroom or controlled environments. Support audits and inspections by regulatory agencies or internal quality teams. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on the production floor. Other duties as assigned.

IDEAL FIT





Education & Experience


Minimum 2-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing. Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role is highly preferred.




Skills and Attributes


Strong knowledge of GMP, FDA regulations, and cleanroom practices. Ability to read and interpret batch records, SOPs, and technical instructions. Attention to detail with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Proficient in basic computer systems and electronic documentation (e.g., MES, ERP).




REQUIREMENTS




Criminal Record Check Medical Clearance TDG & WHMIS Certification



WORKING CONDITIONS




On-site

in SE Calgary GMP compliant facility 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday) Evening Shift: 2:30PM-11:00PM Work is performed in cleanroom and controlled environments. Requires wearing of full PPE, including gowns, gloves, face masks, and hairnets. Exposure to pharmaceutical powders, chemicals, and manufacturing equipment. Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions.
