As our Production & Assembly Manager, you will be the expert in LEAN principles and practices. You will work hands-on to oversee the building of robots, train and manage the production and assembly team members and promote LEAN improvement initiatives to scale up the organization\'s production. We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone with LEAN experience and strong leadership skills. Ideally, you\xe2\x80\x99ve already helped scale manufacturing from a few staff to dozens of staff. Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team of 8+ employees, including middle-management and co-op students.
  • Reviewing the organization\'s internal manufacturing processes to ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved.
  • Implementing and promoting continuous improvement initiatives using various LEAN methodologies and standards (e.g. 5S, TPM, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Planning and organizing workloads by distributing work assignments to team members to maintain focus on priorities.
  • Ensuring PPE is worn to eliminate risks and hazards and advising of safe work practices.
  • Participation in JHSC initiatives, inspections and monthly meetings.
  • Conduct formal and informal performance evaluations with all direct reports on a regular basis.
  • Training team members on how to safely operate tools, guiding them through the production & assembly processes.
  • Participate in the department\'s hiring processes including conducting interviews and onboarding.
  • Leading and motivating your team to meet the proposed objectives, priorities and targets.
  • Occasionally assembling robots yourself using a variety of hand tools and power tools, constructing both the mechanical and electrical subassemblies.
  • Advocating for and maintaining excellent shop standards in line with company\'s Health and Safety policies and practices.
  • Maintaining quality assurance standards.
  • Testing and operating robots to ensure functionality meets customer requirements, and troubleshooting when necessary.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • 3-5+ years experience practicing and advocating for LEAN manufacturing.
  • 3-5+ years experience working in a shop setting.
  • 3-5+ years experience in a Managerial or Supervisory role.
  • Past experience leading the scale-up of LEAN manufacturing a strong asset.
  • Reading engineering diagrams and wire schematics.
  • Previous experience helping scale-up a startup or small company from dozens to hundreds of staff.
  • Testing and debugging skills.
  • Safety-first mindset.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to Haves:
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software.
  • Previous experience in Robotics manufacturing or production.
