Product Specialist - Instrumentation

QMC is seeking a well rounded technical professional to join its Product Management team as a Product Specialist.

As the Product Specialist you will be responsible for managing and maintaining a portfolio of technical hardware, systems and communications integration with a focus in utility measurement and device communications.

QMC Metering Solutions is seeking a Product Specialist to join its growing Product Management Division. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in software systems, networking, communications, IoT, and instrumentation equipment including utility metering and monitoring systems. The Product Specialist will join a team of fast paced and highly skilled technical experts and contribute to the organization's knowledge base, service excellence and growth initiatives in North America. Specifically, the Product Specialist will focus on the portfolio of metering and instrumentation equipment, building HVAC systems and IoT.

About the Role

The Product Specialist, reporting to the Head of Product Management, will fulfill the following technical job requirements:

1. Research and Design: Testing and integration of new device hardware and communications compatibility and interoperability. Generate risk-based analysis and business case for new product related opportunities.

2. Product Implementation: Implementation of new products, and product features, into the Product Management System inclusive of technical documentation, SOP, installation, start up and verification procedures and training materials.

3. Product Support: technical expertise on specific instrumentation and metering equipment, air quality and HVAC related sensors, IoT deployments and communications wired and wireless communications infrastructure. Liaise with manufacturers and applicable third-party product management and quality teams.

4. Customer Support (internal/external): produce and deliver technical training, manage and execute technical support tickets and work with various stakeholders to ensure feasibility of new and existing product solutions.

5. System design: Assisting QMC sales staff and customers reviewing specifications and designing custom energy monitoring and process automation solutions

6. Technical Presentation: Assist QMC sales team with technical solution presentations for QMC potential customers, consultants and partners

Specifically, the Product Specialist will facilitate Industrial and Institutional division within QMCs and their growing demand for instrumentation solutions from variety of manufacturers and building HVAC needs and service offerings.

The Product Specialist will work out of the QMC Toronto office and may require local and out of province/USA travel from time to time. As a person you will thrive in a fast paced and dynamic role with competing priorities and demonstrate the ability and desire to communicate and work with teams across the organization.

Skills & Experience

The particular candidate should have knowledge and experience in software systems, wireless communications technologies as applied to building and facility and/or utility operations:

1.Instrumentation & Automation, Software, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree an asset.

2. 3-5 years experience building HVAC and energy solutions or instrumentation products

3. Experience with BAS/BIT/SCADA, IoT, NaaS, Industrial IoT and/or utility meters

4. Demonstrated understanding of wired and wireless Data Acquisition infrastructure

5. Demonstrated ability and read and comprehend M&E drawings
