The Product Owner, Web Content is a member of the Digital Product Management team that is responsible for the web content roadmap and prioritization of the backlog, so that the product meets organizational priorities and delivers supporter value. This role will support various stages of content and the CMS platform product development life cycle.
The Product Owner will work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners and other key stakeholders to ensure that product vision, roadmap and backlog are all in alignment. This position is the key contact and serves as the bridge between the scrum team and business stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities
Strategic Effectiveness

  • Collaborate with Senior Product Manager to input into the overall digital portfolio roadmap and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the product manager in defining the supporter portal product vision, roadmap, growth opportunities, and key performance metrics based on delivering supporter value.
  • Owns the product roadmap and evaluates various approaches to implement effective solutions that maximizes the value of the product.
  • Communicate product vision to the Agile Product team throughout planning cycles.
  • Participate in planning ceremonies and ensure necessary roadmap priorities are defined.
  • Drive innovation by translating thoughts and ideas into tangible requirements in the form of features, epics, capabilities, enables and user stories.
Backlog Management and prioritization
  • Ensure the Agile Product team has adequate amount of clearly defined and refined stories in the backlog to work on.
  • Organize backlog prioritization to deliver epics, capabilities, features, enablers, and stories with highest business value.
  • Play an active role in supporting in mitigation, documentation and removing impediments impacting completion of sprint goals and objectives.
  • Prioritize needs between scope, budget and time - weighing priorities according to supporter value.
  • Assist the team with training and demos.
  • Actively participates in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, sprint review and retrospectives, sprint demos, and lead the planning release for output delivery.
Primary interface for the product within the organization
  • Collaborate with other Product Owners, Product Managers, Agile Program Managers, Segment Leads and other stakeholders to drive the product vision and roadmap.
  • Represent the supporter and communicates supporter's needs to the organization and team.
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders and peer agile teams to identify supporter and organizational needs, determine value, detail stories for prioritization in team backlog, and manage output delivery.
  • Set and manage expectations of stakeholders for delivery of new outputs, proactively identifying and communicating barriers to delivery and negotiating timeline, scope, resources and budget as required.
  • Represent the Agile Product team in planning for cross-functional activities across areas of the organization.
  • Provide support for team where needed based on skillset, for example development support, Business analysis, testing etc.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Digital Marketing, or a similar discipline.
  • 5 years experience in digital product management, content publishing and/or digital marketing.
  • 2 years experience with Agile development and Scrum framework.
  • Solid understanding of SEO, digital best practices and WCAG accessibility requirements.
  • Experience with web analytic tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Hotjar, Siteimprove) and how to leverage insights into solutions.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of web technologies and development.
  • SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager (POPM) certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Platform (AXP), specifically AEM, is an asset.
  • Non-profit and supporter portal experience would be an asset.

  • Creative and analytical thinker with the ability to provide solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable with both high-level planning and tactical execution.
  • Able to excel in a dynamic environment while managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills to realize maximum value.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written, and strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle criticisms and/or justify decisions. Able to navigate through conflicting priorities, turning ambiguity into clarity in a fast-changing environment.
  • Experience creating detailed business cases to equip senior leadership decision making.
  • Able to navigate the organization and influence through indirect leadership and relationship capital
  • Embraces a non-hierarchical approach, modelling transparency, collaboration, and trust across the team.
