Purpose
World Vision Canada is looking for a highly creative and passionate individual with strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial drive for the position of Product Owner, Performance Insights & Analytics.
The Product Owner is a member of a dedicated Agile team focused on building a Performance Insights platform that will equip World Vision Canada to evolve into an insights-driven organization by ensuring everyone is acutely aware of our performance to make rapid high-quality data-driven decisions to accelerate learning, increase efficiency, and deliver optimal results.

The Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritizing the Product Backlog so that the solution(s) meet organizational priorities and deliver supporter value
The incumbent is responsible for defining the features of new/modified offerings, prioritizing features, adjusting features and re-setting priorities as needed after each sprint/iteration, validating, and providing feedback on delivered features, and keeping internal customers informed on status as well as gaining their feedback.
This role is responsible for working closely with the agile team, Product Managers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to ensure that product vision, roadmap, marketing, and the backlog are all in alignment.
Responsibilities
  • Refine the product vision, manage the product backlog, and drive value.
  • Collaborate with Product Manager(s)/Agile Program Manager(s) to define the roadmap, growth opportunities, and key metrics focused on delivering organizational value.
  • Understand and define the product vision and evaluate various approaches to implement effective solutions.
  • Provide vision to the Scrum team members throughout projects and planning cycles.
  • Drive innovation by translating thoughts and ideas into tangible requirements in the form of features, epics, capabilities, enablers, and user stories.
  • Take lead in writing and providing oversight/direction for writing clear, concise stories that are easily understood by all team members and as such, build a well-groomed backlog.
  • Ensure the Agile Scrum team have adequate amount of clearly defined and refined stories in the product backlog to work on, following up with team members and SME's as necessary to ensure all requirements are clearly documented in alignment with user needs.
  • Play an active role in supporting the Scrum Master in mitigation, documentation, and removing impediments impacting completion of sprint goals and objectives.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, sprint review and retrospectives, and demos.
  • Work with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to ensure Agile Scrum team has fundamental understanding of end-to-end user experience.
  • Support in product and capability testing, ensuring acceptance criteria have been met, providing feedback to the project team.
  • Can deep dive into the details while maintaining the roll up to 360-degree view.
  • Act as primary interface with the organization.
  • Collaborates with other Product Owners, Product Managers, Agile Program Managers, Segment Leads and other stakeholders to drive the product strategy, design, innovation, and overall product direction.
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholder and peer agile teams to identify user needs, determine organizational value, detail user stories for prioritization in product backlog, and align priorities
  • Work with Scrum Master to protect the team from outside noise and pressure.
  • Set and manage expectations and requests from stakeholders for delivery of new features, proactively identifying and communicating barriers to delivery and negotiating timeline, scope, resources, and budget as required.
  • Participate in planning for cross-functional activities across areas of the organization.
  • Provide support for the team where needed, for example development support, business analysis, testing etc.
  • Establish organizational change plan and manage roll out of new products or updates to existing products.
  • Ensure best in class in data and performance insights
  • Keep up to date with changes to market conditions, competition, and industry trends.
  • Keep up to date with Agile/Scrum best practices and trends.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in analytics/technology product marketing, analytics, IT project management, fundraising or advertising.
  • University degree in business, strategy, technology, or a similar discipline
  • Experience in a start-up or agile environment.
  • Analytics expert: demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into digestible reports and actionable insights.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to provide solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable with both high-level planning and tactical execution
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Able to excel in a dynamic environment while managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills to realize maximum value.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle constructive feedback and/or justify decisions; expect major objections.
  • Experience navigating through conflicting priorities, turning ambiguity into clarity in a fast-changing environment.
  • Strong ability to manage financials and strategic execution (budgets, ROIs, team allocation and multiple concurrent project tasks).
  • Strong presentation and public speaking ability.
  • Able to navigate the organization and influence through indirect leadership and relationship capital.
  • Embraces a non-hierarchical approach, modelling transparency, collaboration, and trust across the team.
  • Non for-profit experience would be an asset.
