Reports to: Director, Marketing

Job Purpose:

World Vision Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Marketing group focuses on delivering the right message to the right audience with the right solution at the right time. Following a disciplined Agile Scrum approach, dedicated agile teams focused on specific objectives and deliverables, operate in rapid test and learn cycles obsessed with delivering supporter value and driving efficient revenue growth and long-term supporter value.

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Product Owner is a member of an Agile Scrum team that is responsible for both defining and prioritizing the Team Backlog empowering the team to deliver on organizational priorities and supporter value. This individual will lead the development of user-centric digital products that enable our mission to improve the lives of vulnerable children and communities around the world. The Product Owner will bridge the gap between stakeholders, development teams, and end-users to ensure the successful delivery of digital solutions that make a meaningful impact and meet our supporters needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Strategy:

Develop a deep understanding of the organization\'s mission, objectives, and target audience. Collaborate with stakeholders to define a clear product vision and roadmap that aligns with our mission.

Product Strategy:

Maintain a prioritized backlog of user stories, features, and technical tasks. Continuously refine and groom the backlog to ensure it reflects current priorities and market demands.

Backlog Management:

Champion a user-centric approach to product development. Work closely with designers and developers to create digital experiences that are intuitive, accessible, and engaging for a mass consumer audience.

User-Centered Design:

Implement and facilitate Agile and Scrum methodologies in product development, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of product increments.

Scrum Framework:

Act as the primary point of contact between development teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication. Gather feedback and insights from stakeholders to inform product decisions.

Stakeholder Communication:

Plan and coordinate product releases, including defining release goals, managing dependencies, and ensuring that releases meet quality standards and timelines.

Release Planning:

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of digital products. Use data and feedback to make data-driven decisions and improvements.

Metrics and KPIs:

Ensure that digital products meet high-quality standards, are thoroughly tested, and are aligned with the organization\'s values and goals.

Quality Assurance:

Work together with the Scrum Master to facilitate a healthy culture of trust, collaboration and growth within the agile team.

Teambuilding:

Lead and work with respective members of the team to drive individual growth, leading to overall continuous improvement of the team as a unit.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field; Master\'s degree preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification preferred
  • 7+ years in Marketing, Media, or similar business/communications field experience
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, with a minimum of 3 years in a digital product development environment.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, marketing and/or in-market experimentation
  • Strong understanding of Lean Agile Scrum principles and methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in product management tools and software (Product Plan, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Miro etc.)
  • Strong analytical and data management skills and the ability to utilize data driven decisions
  • Ability to manage financials and strategic execution (budgets, ROIs, resource allocation and multiple concurrent projects)
  • Embraces a non-hierarchical approach, modelling transparency, collaboration and trust across the team
  • Familiarity with the Canadian charitable sector and international development is a plus.
