Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking a Product Owner reporting into our Information Technology team. This individual can demonstrate a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

Reporting to the Product Manager, Commercial Operations, the Product Owner is a critical member of the Loyalty technology development team, responsible for maximising the value of Loyalty products. Product Owners assume several roles within the Loyalty Technology team, including business strategist, product designer, market analyst, business stakeholder liaison, and project manager.

Key deliverables include:

  • Leads the loyalty technology development team on the delivery of prioritized features and improvements.
  • Coordinates a team of 5+ developers including managed services offshore resources for development and delivery of prioritized features and improvements.
  • Works with the developers on technology design and implementation.
  • Creates and maintains the loyalty technology backlog.
  • Responsible for working with stakeholders to define and prioritize stories for new and enhanced features.
  • Defines the scope and timelines for each loyalty technology release.
  • Creates and maintains the loyalty technology roadmap in conjunction with the commercial loyalty team and WestJet\'s overall priorities for the Loyalty program.
  • Responsible for establishing relationships with strategic internal and external service providers, removing barriers for team members and promoting collaborative relations that promote smooth operations.
  • Influence and assist in the development of the strategic vision for WestJet loyalty
  • Provide analysis and implementation recommendations for all applications maintained by loyalty technology.
  • Develop and present reports and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for communication updates for stakeholders related to the product.
Experience and qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree (Technical/Business/Scientific) or equivalent work experience required.
  • 7+ years experience working in a project management or product delivery role in a technology or digital organisation.
  • Experience in business analysis and software development in a large enterprise environment is required.
  • PMP Certification is an asset.
  • Agile Certification is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with SCRUM/Agile framework.
  • Excellent detailed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Loyalty or CRM is desirable.
