Position Overview: The Product Marketing Manager (Go-To-Market, Technology) is a global position that provides guidance and assistance for the development, messaging and deployment of Finning Digital Performance Solutions that improve customer safety, sustainability, productivity, and cost.

This role will execute performance solutions go-to-market planning through systematic and defined processes for:

  • Representing the voice of the customer - before, during and after launch
  • Competitor analysis and positioning
  • Collaboration with Finning Regional teams and Product Development teams
  • Clearly articulating the product value in a way that resonates with the market
  • Driving product adoption and advocacy with the Regions
This role will have accountability for Digital Performance Solutions Go-to-Market planning and commercial success with target customers and opportunities across Finning market sectors.

Major Job Functions:

Go to Market Planning (35%)
  • Merge data driven market understanding with customer feedback to prioritize go to market strategies
  • Confirm a product-market fit, understand customer challenges, goals, and market opportunity
  • Validate product and specify target demographics, product positioning and feature prioritization
  • Establish a clear value proposition and market-entry strategy
  • Champion collaboration with all Finning regions to map out the sales funnel, prepare sales, marketing, and support plans
  • Work with regional product, sales, and operations directors/senior leaders in the formulation of optimal pricing strategies, models, product education approaches, product solution creation, and execution of competitive counter-tactics, goal setting
Product Development (30%)
  • Support the evaluation of potential new opportunities, technologies, and collaborate with product development
  • Interact with digital development teams to design, build and integrate products and services to create digital performance solutions for customers
  • Translate customer needs into direction, product requirements and features that will deliver customer outcomes
  • Communicate and reinforce decisions on priorities and provide relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding business requests, projects, and initiatives
Collaboration (35%)
  • Collect technical & commercial customer needs through internal / external stakeholders
  • Advocate engagement with partners and regional sales, domain experts and support teams to identify and commercialize opportunities
  • Business relationship linkage with both internal and external customers to deliver successful solutions that meet business needs
  • Regularly meet with user base to understand requirements for new/existing solutions and to understand the impact of those solutions on business outcomes
  • Be the point person for customer engagement, business idea intake and participate in the analysis of customer business process to identify optimal product use
Accountability:
  • Accountable for the financial performance and commercial success of the assigned digital products in the marketplace.
  • Accountable for Go-To-Market (GTM) planning within the established GTM framework
  • Accountability for GTM activities including ensuring each region is ready to market, sell, deliver, and support new digital products
  • Product positioning and messaging that helps define a unique value proposition for Finning Performance Solutions.
  • This role is ultimately accountable for driving the completion and adoption for assigned in the Go-To-Market Activities and products
Qualifications for the role:
  • Business, Commerce or Marketing degree or 5+ years of progressive experience within project or product management and development.
  • 5+ years of relevant heavy industry experience in Technology, Marketing, and Sales Engineering
  • Product consulting experience is an asset
  • Experience with multi-regional teams and global responsibilities
  • Experience developing, documenting and leading execution of sales &/or marketing plans for products or services.
  • Solution Sales and problem led sales methodologies
  • Product Marketing including the ability to create execute marketing plans
  • Program, Product and Change Management leadership
  • Heavy Equipment, Construction, Mining or Power Systems industries experience or knowledge will be an added advantage
  • Heavy industry technology products experience or knowledge will be an added advantage
Skills:
  • Planning. This is a key skill required to extract information to ensure the product success through all its development stages. This skill also involves prioritizing tasks and developing effective messaging that will facilitate the product's long-term success.
  • Communication. The Product Marketing Manager will possess excellent communication skills and an ability to ability to present complex material both to technical teams as well as to customers in a way that relates to each audience.
  • Collaboration. Work in partnership with product, marketing, and technical teams to ensure customer feedback and insights from the regions and the sales force are evaluated and prioritized for product development and marketing plan execution.
  • Business Development. This role requires the ability to plan and lead external and internal conversations. Comfortable and inquisitive with industry business processes to ultimately understand business opportunities.
  • Sales and Marketing. Must have extensive knowledge and experience with marketing, being able to plan and facilitate the definition of a product marketing plan including segmentation of customers, value proposition design, promotional plans, etc.
  • Program, Product and Change Management. This role requires oversight of a complex global set of activities which requires detailed management, governance, and communication.
  • Influence. The ability to indirectly influence. To accomplish this role's objectives, the individual must develop and leverage trust and credibility on a global level with regional leaders.
