The Product Manager resides at the intersection of business, product design, and technology. Responsible for product outcomes, they own the digital strategy behind a product, or a suite of products, for an organization. Including the development and delivery, specifying functional requirements, managing feature releases. This individual provides clear and focused leadership to successfully execute and advance digital products in support of the strategic goals of the organization. Contributes to maximizing the technology investment in support of the organization’s Digital Transformation Strategy.
This position reports to Manager, Project Delivery and works closely with the Director, Enterprise Platforms, and the Enterprise Architect to deliver on the suite of client facing products in support of the organization’s Digital Transformation Strategy & strategic goals. They will also partner with the Product Manager, Client Journey as an integrated team toward digital delivery.
Responsibilities include:

  • Sets out the strategic and long-term vision, with a strong focus on ERP systems optimization in support of the client journey. Including bringing analysis, insights and KPI’s to management and internal business stakeholders to deepen their understanding of key issues.
  • Work with business stakeholders across the company to understand their business, operational, and system requirements. Design and deliver innovative solutions and friction-less experience to address those needs.
  • Build client facing applications that interact across systems and business rules that meet a variety of business use cases, supporting a great experience.
  • Active participation in all ERP initiatives
  • Throughout the product development life cycle, represents the needs of end-users, evaluates market trends, emerging technologies, assesses what’s needed to stay competitive, and uses this information to determine what features to build.
  • Ensures focused collaboration and promotes cohesiveness between all the members of the team and stakeholders and creates buy-in in the interest of advancing the product.
  • Sets up and manages the general framework and governance for making product decisions.
  • Manages product suite portfolio, road map and release management, and effectively refines the backlog through feature prioritization, and estimates delivery timelines
  • Translates stakeholder needs with the vendors.
  • Responsible for coordinating the various activities across the software development life cycle associated with ensuring that the delivered product meets users' needs and provides value to our clients.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience working as a Product Owner or similar within technology
  • Strong desire to take ownership of a set of new products and features
  • Motivational leader that can inspire productivity and teamwork within a product team
  • Strong understanding & working experience of business systems, and the business and operational needs of Mitacs and its product offerings
  • Drive to design something new, be innovative
  • Previous exposure to ERP, and Finance systems in support of multiple business stakeholders is preferred
  • Experience working with development and cross functional technology teams
  • Solid background in ITIL, software development and agile development methodologies and teams
  • Client journey experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superlative collaboration mindset, through managing prior cross-functional teams
  • Highly skilled at issue resolution and task prioritization.
  • Demonstrated personal accountability to manage workload and achieve results that meet agreed Product objectives
  • Do-what-it-takes attitude
