About the role:
We are looking for an experienced and well-rounded Product Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Product Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and optimizing our next generations' products to meet customer needs and ensure the highest quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and marketing to bring products ideas from concept to market.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaborate with product managers and designers to define product requirements and specifications.
Help with the development, design, and prototyping of new products.
Perform detailed analysis and testing to ensure product functionality, quality, and performance meet both internal and industry standards.
Optimize product designs for ease of installation, manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
Provide technical support and resolve any engineering-related issues that arise during product development and production.
Conduct regular product evaluations and implement improvements based on feedback from stakeholders and customers.
Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in product design, prototyping, manufacturing and assembly.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and other mechanical design tools.
Experience working in plastic and metal for component prototyping, manufacturing and assembly.
Knowledge and experience in material selection, compatibility and usage for indoor and outdoor applications.
Experience with designing plug and play systems for ease of product assembly, installation and/or secure removal.
Experience with component assembly (precision part mating, hardware integration and power systems.).
Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), quality control techniques, statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing.
Experience in the design of IoT products is an asset.
Self-motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques.
Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment.
Will be required to travel within Canada and the US whenever the need arises to complete time sensitive projects.
