Role Overview



We are looking for a New Product Development Engineer who will be responsible for the overall mechanical design of new products. This includes component design, structural and thermal analysis, and bill of material creation. This position will work closely with the Program Manager, Marketing Manager, Optical Design Group, Electrical Engineering, Sourcing and Manufacturing personnel to develop the products in an organized and expedient fashion.

You will work as part of the Nemalux lighting team in Calgary Alberta, creating lighting products harsh and hazardous environments.

Main Responsibilities



Coordinate with Marketing and Quotes to ensure project specifications are clear, complete, and achievable and are consistent with Voice of the Customer data. Ensure design progression via three-dimensional modeling, thermal and mechanical analysis, drawing release, testing plan, and third-party compliance. Ensure project tooling budget and product cost requirements are being met. Coordinate with Sourcing personnel to ensure vendors are identified, quotations are being obtained, and quality documents are being supplied. Coordinate with manufacturing personnel to ensure production site has been identified, production equipment and other requirements are being put in place and production readiness is achieved. Conduct design reviews as well as the Design and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA) sessions to Identifying project risks and develop response plans In conjunction with other team members present the project status at Executive gate review Sessions. Special projects as required by management.

Requirements



5+ years of product design experience with lighting fixtures is a plus. 5+ year Experience with and demonstrated proficiency with Solidworks 3-D modeling software or similar Understanding of electrical engineering principles Familiarity with all design, manufacturing and regulatory (UL, CE, etc.) aspects of LED lighting systems for general lighting is a plus Understanding of injection molded plastic, die cast, sheet metal design, manufacturing methods & processes. Excellent communication, organizational and people skills and the ability to work across functional groups Ability to articulate and promote Engineering best-practices.

Pay: $54,605.81-$111,167.13 per year
