We are currently recruiting for a Consumer Electronics Product Buyer to join our team! Based in Calgary, the Buyer is part of a dynamic team responsible for the procurement and marketing of products, evaluating suppliers (based on cost, quality, service, availability, reliability, & selection), monitoring sell through and issuing purchase orders. The overall responsibilities for this role include minimizing commercial risk, enhancing the company's competitive advantage, and meeting/exceeding sales expectations.
Additional responsibilities include the analyzing of market conditions and assisting in the planning and delivery of sales promotions for a variety of media formats. The Buyer will also work with the Retail Management Team to ensure all goods are displayed effectively in the stores and that sales representatives receive the best product training available.
Key Accountabilities
Identify and acquire products for retail sale
Identify and address issues related to the procurement process.
Establish foreign and domestic suppliers
Make decisions affecting sales, gross margin, markdowns and inventory turn
Set retail strategy for the category
Plan item lifecycles and tailor store assortments
Select marketed assortments, recommend, and coordinate final assortments, and assist in consolidating master assortments in the flyer
Control department budgets
Study and understand sales records and inventory levels
Place orders and check shipments
Ongoing appraisal of products and services
Respond to supplier and business partner inquiries
Resolve invoice and/or payment issues related to purchase orders
Strong knowledge of the domestic market, competitors
Researching and analyzing North American markets to identify trends and opportunities inside of their category

Preferred Education and Experience
Supply Chain Management experience would be an asset
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the procurement process
Experience in the Consumer Electronics industry
Experience in supplier analysis, screening and selection
Demonstrated experience in negotiating and executing contractual terms and conditions
Experience in marketing media formats, such as print, radio and digital.

Effective interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills that include negotiation, facilitation and execution expertise.
Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
Self-starter who recognizes the need to work independently and in a team environment.
