About the Role:
Global Halifax is looking for a full-time Producer/Director for Global News Morning to join their team. Reporting to the Station Manager, the successful candidate would build, write, and produce morning newscasts, while working closely with our technical producer, director, and co-hosts to keep the show running smoothly and to time. The ideal candidate loves mornings and the energy of live TV, is a team player ready to bring energy and leadership to a small team of dedicated professionals, has an eye for detail, and loves the challenge of building interesting and engaging broadcasts. This role involves overnight/early morning shifts and is a Group 4 position in the current collective agreement.

You\'ll be working on things like:

• Build news lineups and write news scripts.
• Work closely with the show\xe2\x80\x99s technical producer to ensure video elements are prepared for air and social media.
• Monitor overnight and developing news stories, updating news content as required.
• Work with the director during live broadcast, timing the program, speaking with talent, and making editorial decisions.
• Work with staff in the field to ensure the best possible on-air content with clean newscasts.
• Assign field staff to breaking news stories as required.
• Keep current with local / national news and provide leadership on how to cover these events.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Post-secondary education in Journalism or equivalent experience
• Passion for news and interest in producing
• Previous experience producing morning news would be an asset
• Excellent writing skills
• Strong news judgement with the ability to make quick decisions and work well under pressure.
• Organized, superior attention to detail, and a strong collaborator
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask and to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Proven leadership and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision
