OVERVIEW:



The Procurement Coordinator is a key part of the Manufacturing team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement and shipment of materials, supplies, and services needed to support the company's thermoforming production processes and business operations. In addition, this role will source, quote and coordinate in-bound and outbound freight.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



Manage and execute the procurement of raw materials, components, and equipment required for production and office operations, ensuring compliance with company quality and cost standards. Create and manage purchase orders for materials; track and follow up to ensure timely delivery. Obtain competitive freight quotes and coordinate all paperwork and the booking of trucks for the timely shipment of goods & materials to & from the manufacturing facility, ensuring cost-effective and efficient delivery. Maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate prices and terms, and monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and product quality. Research and source new suppliers, materials, and products to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to forecast material requirements and ensure all necessary resources are procured to meet production schedules. Maintain accurate procurement records, including supplier contracts, purchase orders, and delivery schedules, in the company's data management systems. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and production teams to maintain optimal stock of materials without overstocking. Address any procurement issues or delays and resolve them with suppliers in a timely manner. Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure proper documentation and processing of invoices and payments for purchased goods. Assist in cost analysis and budgeting for procurement activities, providing insights to management on potential savings opportunities. Coordinate and manage inbound and outbound domestic freight, including cross-border shipments between Canada and the U.S.; schedule carriers, prepare documentation, and ensure timely, compliant deliveries. Proactively resolve logistics issues such as delays, freight discrepancies, and cross-border challenges to minimize disruption to production and customer schedules. Other duties to support the successful operation of the Production/Manufacturing department.

REQUIREMENTS:



Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, and supplier management in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of procurement processes, cost control, and contract negotiation Good working knowledge of inventory management principles, including lead times, reorder points, and stock optimization Familiarity with MRP or ERP software for procurement and inventory management Proficiency with the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with email and communication tools like Outlook Strong numerical and analytical skills for cost analysis and forecasting Understanding of cross-border shipping procedures, documentation, and customs requirements for Canada-U.S. freight considered a strong asset Experience working with freight carriers, brokers, and logistics providers to coordinate cost-effective transportation solutions considered a strong asset A current forklift ticket is considered an asset Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail Strong communication skills for negotiating with suppliers and collaborating with internal teams Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic production environment Experience with budgeting and cost-saving initiatives is an asset
