Procurement Specialist
to help us continue building toward this vision.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who excels in a dynamic environment, demonstrates strong technical capability, and is confident in being responsible for purchasing functions on assigned client-based projects.
Key Responsibilities
Develop purchasing strategies and plans to achieve overall best value supply of materials, equipment and services in co-ordination with the Engineering team.
Management of the formation process for procurement packages, including pre-qualification, tendering, clarification, evaluation, negotiations, and developing recommendations for award.
Support progress updates in the procurement cycle to drive delivery in support of the project schedule.
Administration of awarded purchase contracts, including management of changes, invoicing, and closeout.
Chair package meetings with suppliers, functional team members, and clients to support project delivery.
Use and maintain project systems for all purchasing activities.
Work closely with project functional team members, including Engineering, Project Controls, Construction, Contracts, Expediting, and Project Management.
You will have a strong understanding of procurement procedures/workflows and apply them to Client-specific and/or project requirements.
Responsible for tasks varying in nature and urgency, such as:
o Project bidders list development.
o Bid package preparation.
o Issue RFP's
o Bid opening and evaluation.
o Negotiation and clarifications
o Issuing PO's or PReq's
Collaborate with Project Managers, Responsible Engineers, Team Leads, and other functional team members to support seamless project execution.
Collaborate with relevant key working relationships, such as Client procurement representatives and vendors, to ensure all procurement activities regarding PO's have been addressed and covered off.
Proactively manage PO Change management process
Closeout PO's once contractual and procedural requirements have been met.
Manage deadlines and ensure appropriate communication is provided (to relevant parties) when schedule conflicts arise.
Administer and electronically distribute specified reports to Clients and/or engineering staff members.
Expected to work with all levels of the organization in a cohesive manner.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers.
Contact vendors regularly to confirm order status, production progress, and delivery schedules.
Track and report potential delays, risks, or deviations from the agreed schedule.
Ensure suppliers submit required technical documents, inspection notifications, and shipping releases on time.
Coordinate inspections, FATs, and logistics with QA/QC and logistics teams.
Maintain accurate expediting logs, PO status reports, and supplier performance metrics.
Coordinate transportation of materials and equipment from vendor points of supply to site.
Requirements
Experience with EPC/ EPCM Procurement and associated systems for purchasing and package administration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong time management, organizational, negotiation, and networking skills.
Ability to manage multiple POs simultaneously
A proven track record managing multiple projects simultaneously or a single project of major size and scale.
Ability to read engineering drawings, datasheets, and technical specifications
Highly proficient in MS Office and experience in working on Supply Chain Management software.
Education/Experience
Degree, diploma or certificate in Supply Chain Management or other relevant area.
At least 8 years of Procurement experience, preferably in consulting engineering or within a project environment.
Experience in EPC/EPCM procurement environments is preferred.
Possess a valid Alberta Driver's license with Clean Driver's Abstract.
