We are looking for an Officer, Local Services to perform operational purchasing activities at the Iron Ore Company of Canada. This role provides supply chain services that deliver value to the Rio Tinto Group through the strategic sourcing and buying of goods and services for all operations and businesses.

Playing an essential role supporting the business unit you will:
  • Prepare bid packages, evaluate bid proposals, perform commercial analysis and create detailed recommendations to award.
  • Negotiate, develop, implement, amend and monitor supplier contracts.
  • Identify and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPI\xe2\x80\x99s) to measure and manage supplier performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects internal to the Procurement team and with the Operations.
  • Engage and coordinate a variety of stakeholders to assess business requirements and develop pipeline of value generating projects.
  • Collaborate (as a one team) with Category Specialists from the Global team and Regional team.
  • Be a key player for the Operations team in their day to day to ensure the right level of services from suppliers.
  • Ensure qualification of suppliers and compliance with Rio Tinto Procurement Policy

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor\'s degree in related discipline preferred
  • Procurement and Supply Chain experience
  • Ariba (procurement tool) and SAP experience (is an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Bilingual (French and English is an asset)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills
