Procurement and Logistics Specialist

We're seeking a Procurement and Logistics Specialist to join Open Ocean Robotics' manufacturing team. You will organize purchasing, receiving, inventory management, and supply chain relationships, bringing skills and experience to help our manufacturing effort making small robotic boats.

Core Responsibilities

  • Work with the manufacturing team to implement effective processes and systems
  • Be an active voice for continuous improvement in a rapidly evolving environment,
  • Analyze data to identify problematic areas and suggest improvements,
  • Request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and conditions
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and/or agreements,
  • Track orders to ensure timely deliveries from suppliers/vendors,
  • Monitor supplier/vendor performance and resolve issues,
  • Evaluate supplier/vendor quality standards and establish trusted relationships,
  • Plan deliveries and shipments based on production and/or operations schedules,
  • Prepare shipping documents including Bills of Lading and Dangerous Goods statements,
  • Discover cost-effective shipping modes and schedules,
  • Coordinate our supply chain procedures to maximize quality of delivery
  • Maintain updated records of orders, suppliers, and customers
  • Oversee the levels of our warehouse stock and place orders as needed
Requirements

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role,
  • Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies to balance company needs and limits,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Atlassian applications, and Slack,
  • Proficiency with purchasing and resource planning systems (ERP, MRP, LPM) preferred,
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Quality Management experience preferred,
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, supply chain management or similar field preferred,
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills,
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills,
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently,
  • Willingness to learn and tenacity to finish what you start,
  • Good at working with a diverse group of people & building team culture.
Conditions:

This is a full-time permanent position based in Victoria, B.C. available for immediate start. Open Ocean Robotics does not sponsor work visas.
