The processing engineer will be a key contributor to the design and development of a greenfield uranium mining and processing facility. This role is responsible for supporting process design, evaluating milling and water treatment technologies, and preparing for future commissioning and operational readiness. The successful candidate will bring technical expertise in mineral processing, particularly hydrometallurgy and a strong understanding of uranium extraction methods and regulatory requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the foundational design of a critical resource project with Paladin Canada.
oContribute to the design and development of the uranium processing plant, including process flow diagrams, piping and instruction diagrams, and equipment specifications.
oConduct feasibility studies and process simulations to evaluate different extraction and refining methods (e.g. acid leaching, solvent extraction, ion exchange, water treatment).
oCollaborate with engineering consultants, environmental specialists, and project stakeholders to ensure process design aligns with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
oAssist in selecting and sizing processing equipment and systems.
oSupport permitting and licensing efforts by providing technical documentation and process descriptions.
oParticipate in HAZOP studies and risk assessments during the design phase.
oPlan for commissioning activities, including development of SOPs, training materials, and performance testing protocols.
oStay current with advancements in uranium processing technologies.
Qualifications
oBachelor's degree in chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, mineral processing or a related field.
oP.Eng. Designation with APEGS.
oStrong understanding of uranium extraction processes and Canadian nuclear regulations.
oExperience with process modelling software (e.g. METSIM, HSC Chemistry, Aspen Plus).
oExcellent communication and project coordination skills.
oMust be eligible to work in Canada and pass background checks for nuclear industry compliance.
Previous Experience
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in engineering design and project management is an asset.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and locations.
Preference given to candidates located in or near Saskatoon with the ability to work in-office at least four days per week.
Occasional travel to site or engineering partners locations may be required.
