Job Description

The Process Specialist is a key member of the Cheme project engineering team, supporting both project management and engineering deliverables. They excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and bring their excellent analytical abilities, verbal and written communication skills along with their drive to succeed. The Process Specialist will support project managers and project engineers and assist with various tasks from tracking project activities against schedule and budget, coordination with project stakeholders, to P&ID preparation, engineering calculations for equipment and instrument sizing and selection, and commissioning and validation protocol preparation and execution.Process Specialists want to learn, grow and develop. They will be enrolled in the Cheme Mentor Program where they will be paired with a more senior staff member to assist with their career growth.Minimum Required Educational Requirements:
Bachelor of Applied Science degree in engineering from a recognized Canadian university.Professional Requirements:
Ability to register with the Professional Engineer's of Ontario as an Engineer in Training. It is expected that professional practice examinations will be written and passed within 1 year.Minimum Core Competencies:
Mechanical, Chemical, Process engineering skills with at least 1 year of current work experienceMinimum Required Technical Experience:
Contribution towards process engineering calculations, equipment sizing, specifications, flow diagrams and P&ID's. Support of design engineering of mechanical piping, skids, components and layouts, Commissioning of systems, including process, mechanical and control system startup which will include calibration testing, balancing, functional checks and documentation of these tasks. Validation testing of completed systems which would include the preparation, review and/or execution of protocols, summary reports and initiation of corrective actions to solve issues.Minimum Required Support Skills:
Proficiency in written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly with clients. Adept at dealing with client's and other people in a professional and courteous manner. Use of Microsoft operating system to navigate the server and cloud environments. Use of Microsoft Office to create new documents and to fill in templates, such as Word and Excel. Ability to use Microsoft Project to create schedules, and track project expenses and resources. Valid drivers license, and owner of a car.Primary Responsibilities:
Project Management Responsibilities Preparation and maintenance of project schedules and budgets Facilitation/participation in client and project team meetings Cross-functional coordination with all project stakeholders (Quality, Manufacturing, HSE, Engineering, Vendors, Contractors, etc) to maintain and meet project timelines for various deliverables Updates and verification of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive and lasting relationships with clientsProject Engineering Responsibilities Carry out sizing calculations of equipment, peer review calculations of others Preparation of specifications for equipment including:1. Construction specifications2. User Requirements3. Functional requirements Attend equipment FAT's and SAT's Preparation and/or review of commissioning and validation documents Execution of commissioning and validation documentsOther Travel to client sites as needed Contribution to improvements in company efficiency, systems, and standardsJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: From $65,000.00 per yearBenefits:
