BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA Inc. has an opening for a Process Safety Analyst. This is a full-time permanent position located in Charlottetown, PE.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading process hazard analysis (PHA) and risk assessments, including facility siting and human factor analysis, at all BIOVECTRA's facilities, throughout their life cycle.
  • Leading process safety incident investigations and working with subject matter experts to ensure recommended action items are completed
  • Providing direction and technical support to the development and implementation of PSM policies and procedures.
  • Providing direction and technical support to ensure compliance with applicable process safety regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Working with the Engineering department to incorporate PSM considerations during and throughout design and construction phases.
  • Working with Business Development department and project managers to obtain process safety information from new/potential clients and provide process safety consulting.
  • Performing pre-qualification safety walk-downs, and pre-startup safety reviews.
  • Performing process safety compliance audits, and work with subject matter experts to ensure recommended action items are completed.
  • Developing process safety metrics and monitor process safety KPIs.
  • Conducting safety reviews for changes to processes over the life of a facility, including evaluation of hazards, recommendations, risk control and follow-up measures.
  • Providing technical support to ensure process safety critical system's maintenance and inspection is in compliance with applicable process safety regulation, codes, and standards.
  • Adhering to BIOVECTRA's Health and Safety Policy as outlined in CP0010 Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Statements of Principle, and Responsibilities.
  • Additional duties as assigned, based on business needs at the department supervisor's request.
The successful candidate for this position should have:
  • Master of Science in Chemical or Process Engineering.
  • Two years' experience facilitating and leading process hazard analysis.
  • Two years' experience applying the principles of safety to the manufacture, storage, and handling of hazardous chemicals.
  • Two years' experience with hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
  • Two years' experience working in a GMP environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
