Hatch is currently seeking a motivated and talented Junior Process Engineer with the desire for a challenging career in the engineering consulting field. The work is varied and stimulating, covering pre-project studies, early phase engineering projects, FEED and execution for greenfield developments, brownfield upgrades and operations support, both onshore and offshore in oil and gas as well as energy transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Process engineering knowledge input over the full project life cycle, from front-end studies through detailed engineering projects and engineering support for senior engineers and consultants in the following activities

  • Development of process design basis, design criteria, process simulations, PFDs, P&IDs,
  • Participation in HAZOPS, HAZID, SIL, and safety integrity of plant design,
  • Generation of design calculations and data sheets for unit operations,
  • Perform engineering designs calculations in accordance with industrial best practice, procedure and regulatory codes and standards,
  • Relief and flare load estimation, depressurization, flare studies and system design,
  • Development of operating and control philosophies,
  • Assist in process optimization and value improvement studies,
  • Assist in Technology licensor packages review and selection methodology, and
  • Offshore and onshore site-survey and operational support.
  • Support business development activities including market analysis, client engagement, and preparing proposals for new work
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering from a recognized college or university
  • Master\'s degree preferred but not required
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in performing the responsibilities outlined above
  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with PEGNL.
  • Strong technical skills in supporting process engineering activities for basic engineering/FEED and detail engineering in the field of upstream oil and gas projects.
  • Experience in simulation software and process engineering design tools - HYSYS, Aspen, Pro-II/Provision, HTRI, OLGA, Pipesim, etc.
Specific experience in the following:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Good knowledge of upstream production assets with proficiency in handling plant data using data analysis tools (Scripting knowledge in Python will be an asset),
  • Good knowledge of dashboard creation using Excel, PowerBI or Tableau, and
  • Reporting, presentation, and communication of key technical issues to external clients when required.
