Job Description

Smarter Alloys is a world leader in smart materials innovation, pioneering advanced shape memory materials for applications in medical devices, cleantech, automotive, and beyond. We are looking for a Process Engineer to help scale and optimize our wire production processes as we continue our rapid growth.



As a Process Engineer, you'll play a critical role in scaling up production and improving operational efficiency for our wire and finished goods manufacturing lines. Working cross-functionally with production, quality, R&D, and operations teams, you'll help drive process improvements, reduce variability, and ensure high-quality output in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES




Production Optimization & Process Engineering




Analyze and improve wire production processes including drawing, annealing, etching, shaping, and finishing Identify bottlenecks, implement lean improvements, and reduce waste across manufacturing operations Support the scale-up of production from pilot to full-scale Maintain and update process documentation as part of QMS requirements

Quality & Technical Problem Solving




Collaborate with the Quality team to improve process capability and resolve root causes of defects Develop and monitor in-process quality control metrics and support SPC initiatives Lead DOE and other data-driven investigations into process performance

Cross-functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement




Work closely with R&D, operations, and procurement teams to support the development and transfer of new products into production Recommend and implement upgrades to equipment or processes to improve safety, throughput, or yield Contribute to internal audits, corrective actions, and quality improvement programs

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS




Bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (or similar field) 2-5 years of experience in a process, manufacturing, or production engineering role (recent grads will not be considered) Familiarity with QMS systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485) and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC) Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process validation, and root cause analysis techniques Self-motivated and able to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced production environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS




Hands-on experience with wire processing technologies (e.g., drawing, annealing, etching, shaping) is an asset
