Job Description

Key Responsibilities:



Support process engineering evaluations and studies for the development of new facilities and operational practices/procedures under the guidance of senior process engineers. Assist in the development of Ready for Operations deliverables, including commissioning plans and operating procedures. Perform process simulations and calculations with supervision at various stages of engineering (up to IFC), including: Hydraulics and line sizing Basic relief load calculations Control valve sizing Equipment sizing Prepare and update process deliverables at various engineering stages, including: Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Line Designation Tables (LDTs) Heat & Material Balances (H&MB) Basic equipment and instrument process data sheets Utility consumption lists and alarm set point lists (as assigned) Assist with reviewing vendor documentation and quotations to ensure compliance with process requirements. Participate in design reviews, P&ID reviews, 3D model reviews, HAZOPs, and other safety and hazard reviews as part of the project team. Support updates to the process design basis, process criteria, and engineering deliverable lists as directed. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Piping, I&C/Automation, Civil/Structural) to ensure process requirements are properly incorporated into designs. Provide process input to multidisciplinary documents such as P&IDs, LDTs, MSDs, BLTs, and operating philosophies. Assist with Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs) by providing process conditions and operating requirements. Support process design activities for facility systems such as production lines, pipelines, start-up/recirculation systems, pressure and temperature conditions, and winterization requirements. Assist in basic calculations and data development for pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels under supervision. Comply with Company and Client process engineering standards, procedures, and best practices. Support Technical Evaluation Bid (TEB) activities by providing process input as required.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA. 0-4 years of engineering experience (co-op, internship, or junior engineering experience is an asset). Exposure to Oil & Gas facilities, SAGD, heavy oil, pipelines, or production facilities is an asset. Familiarity with process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS (working knowledge preferred). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and develop technical expertise. Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also managing assigned tasks independently with guidance. Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship is required.
