Junior Engineer/EIT
for the
Building Performance
team in the
Guelph office
.
Key Responsibilities
This
entry level
role includes but is not limited to:
Plan and coordinate all technical aspects of assigned projects
Solve challenging building design problems involving solar, stack effect, and indoor/outdoor ventilation design
Consult with engineering, architectural and industrial clients
Conduct data collection, computational simulations, analysis, post-processing, interpretation, and documentation of engineering results
Consulting with engineers and architects to answer technical questions
Writing technical project reports that present methodology, results and recommendations
Providing advice on technical problems and follow the appropriate QA/QC procedures
Assist with the preparation of proposals, marketing materials and/or technical papers
Working under the general supervision of senior staff with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgement
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following
qualifications
:
A recent graduate of a post-secondary engineering or engineering related program incorporating studies in fluid dynamics and/or building science.
A strong understanding of the fundamental physics of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer
Demonstrated initiative, independent problem-solving methods/capabilities, exceptional coordination and communication skills
Experience simulating complex systems with simplified models
An ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment with minimal supervision while multi-tasking to meet deadlines
An aptitude for working in a highly collaborative, team environment
Preference will be given to candidates with the following
experience
:
Knowledge of building code and ASHRAE standards, curtain wall, fenestration, or HVAC systems in residential or commercial applications
Experience interpreting and working with architectural, structural, or mechanical drawings
Calculating/estimating inputs for both fluid and heat transfer boundary conditions
Generating meshes for and running Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations with standard tools (e.g. Star CCM+, Open FOAM, etc.)
Presenting results in a clear and concise manner
Advanced level Microsoft Excel capabilities
Programming/scripting experience (Python, C++, C#, VBA)
Experience working within open-source operating systems (Linux)
Competency with cloud/cluster computing
