EXP is currently seeking a
Team Lead - Building Performance
to join its Building Science Discipline in our Brampton, ON or Hamilton, ON office. The successful candidate will be responsible for select aspects of building science technical work as it relates to new construction and existing buildings, including but not limited to the responsibilities listed below.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
Manage building performance projects and act as the Technical Lead or Peer Reviewer for new and existing buildings including building condition assessments, performance audits, reserve fund studies, energy audits, and building commissioning with the support of the required technical staff members and specialists.
Provide support for restoration and new construction projects.
Staff management tasks including hiring new staff, team building, professional development, and performance evaluations.
Mentor and train team members in conducting technical delivery of projects.
Maintain relationship with the management, project managers and technical staff within building science and other disciplines across sectors in the organization.
Business development tasks including strategic growth initiatives, marketing of services and liaison with clients, building strong client relationships, and generating new business.
Pursuit of new opportunities, proposal preparation including development of scope of services and pricing and follow-up of award of projects with the Client.
Project management tasks include project set-up and team assignment, project schedule and budget management, project delivery, invoicing and collections.
What your experience looks like
10-15 years of technical experience in building science with proven ability to manage projects and facilitate business development.
Staff management experience.
University degree in a related field of study such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science.
Master's degree would be considered an asset.
P. Eng. designation in is a requirement.
Experience in building condition assessments, reserve fund studies and performance audits is a requirement.
Experience in energy audits and building commissioning is an asset.
Experience in residential, commercial and institutional sectors is required.
Knowledge of various site features, architecture, and building envelope systems and assemblies.
Experience managing sub-consultants and specialists including structural, mechanical, electrical, elevator, cost and energy consultants is a requirement.
Knowledge of standards and guidelines related to building performance projects is a requirement.
Knowledge of the NECB and energy standards is an asset. Experience in building envelope condition assessments, preparation of rehabilitation specifications and drawings, tendering process and contract administration and construction review services during construction is an asset.
Experience in providing building envelope consulting services for new construction projects is an asset.
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required for site visits.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers.
Ability to work effectively in a high demand and fast-paced environment.
An excellent team builder with the ability to motivate people.
Leadership skills are a requirement.
