Dalhousie University is comprised of 6,000 faculty and staff amongst its 13 faculties. Current enrollment is over 21,000 graduate and undergraduate students. As part of Canada\'s U15 research-intensive group, Dalhousie University is an influential driver of the region\'s intellectual, social and economic development. It is the largest university in Atlantic Canada and is located on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi\'kmaq in the heart of Halifax (Kjipuktuk), a scenic coastal city and capital of Nova Scotia, which is home to 13 Mi\'kmaq First Nations, a deeply rooted African Nova Scotian community, and an increasingly diverse population which also includes a vibrant workforce of people living with (dis)Abilities.

The Faculty of Health\'s faculty, staff and students are committed to improving the well-being of individuals, families, communities and populations through diverse health programming, collaborative research, and strong community partnerships. The Faculty of Health is one of the largest faculties at Dalhousie, comprised of eight schools, one college and one program, more than 200 faculty members, 80 staff members, and over 3,000 students. With the most programmatically diverse health faculty in Canada, our students are exposed to a broad range of health topics and learning experiences.

The School of Nursing\'s Strategic Plan, which aligns with that of the Faculty of Health and Dalhousie University, guides the realization of our vision of transforming healthcare through nursing education, research, and scholarship. Our values are to strive for excellence; embed equity and inclusion in all that we do; embrace broad perspectives of health; care for our students, staff and faculty; collaborate with respect and reciprocity; and commit to viable growth.

By the time of appointment, applicants must hold either a Doctorate in Nursing, or a Masters in Nursing and a PhD in a health related field. Consideration will be given to applicants who have a PhD in progress, provided they have: 1. Completed their comprehensive exams, and 2. Provide a plan for how they will complete the remainder of their PhD within the 3-Year Probationary Tenure Track period, while fulfilling the responsibilities and requirements of the position. All applicants must have demonstrated expertise as an NP; a family-all-ages focus would be an asset.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for registration as a nurse practitioner with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate evidence of NP practice. Evidence of contribution to scholarship, teaching, research, and practice is desirable. Interprofessional education, distance, and context-based learning, and/or clinical simulation learning experience are desirable. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to optimal teaching and learning strategies, community engagement, and knowledge and experience related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusiveness and Accessibility (EDIA). The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to service activities within the School, the Faculty of Health, the University, and the wider community.

The successful candidate is expected to lead an innovative and collaborative program of research that engages the community in an area relevant to Nurse Practitioner practice, for example, biomedical, health services, population health, health policy, health equity and patient/community engagement among others. This position complements faculty renewal and brings together interprofessional teams to support the School and Faculty research strategy to develop a collaborative, supportive and efficient research infrastructure. In addition, the candidate will be expected to secure external research funding, including national Tri-council funding. For further information with respect to research alignment please visit

The candidate is expected to become an active and engaged member of the School, Faculty and University. Activities at local, national, and international levels are expected to promote continuous improvement in research, teaching and learning at Dalhousie.

Applicants must include a cover letter stating qualifications, clinical experience, and equity-informed scholarship in relation to Nurse Practitioner practice. In addition, applicants must submit their Curriculum Vitae, including a list of publications, clinical practice and major projects, statement of teaching experience and interests, as well as a teaching dossier (including, if available, copies of teaching evaluations).

Applications must also include an original, innovative 5-year research program plan with clear objectives that describes methodological approaches including partnerships or collaborations, fits within the School strategic directions and addresses how proposed activities will be funded.
