Metro Vancouver Transit Police ("Transit Police") is the leader in regional public transit policing, operating across 22 communities. It provides policing services to all modes of transit: Bus, SeaBus, SkyTrain, and West Coast Express. In partnership with cross-regional partners, Transit Police prevents crime and provides coordinated police services to transit users throughout the region. Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE
Supports the Legal Section in the day-to-day operations of TSML's (Metro Vancouver Transit Police or MVTP) privacy compliance program, including drafting and reviewing privacy impact assessments, providing privacy training and advice, and developing, coordinating and implementing privacy policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that TSML's policing and law enforcement programs and activities comply with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reviews and analyzes operational and proposed programs and activities to identify real and potential privacy risks to MVTP. Makes recommendations on risk mitigation strategies and monitors the implementation of strategies.
Contributes to MVTP's ongoing privacy compliance program improvement efforts. Makes recommendations regarding privacy strategic direction, priorities, policies, guidelines and procedures.
Provides privacy advice, expertise, and guidance to internal stakeholders on moderately complex matters, including in the context of policing and law enforcement, to ensure the consistent and effective interpretation and application of FOIPPA and alignment with MVTP's policies and standards.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders and project teams to research, draft, review and revise privacy compliance documentation, including privacy impact assessments (PIAs). Maintains positive working relationships with stakeholders while exercising tact and diplomacy to promote proactive collaboration and reinforce MVTP's culture of privacy.
Assists the Legal Section in privacy breach responses, investigations and mitigations. Assists in the handling of moderately complex privacy related queries and complaints, including monitoring and responding to relevant emails in shared mailbox.
Assists the Legal Section in educating employees across the enterprise on Privacy related topics, requirements and processes. Works with the Legal Section to present training sessions to larger groups, as required.
Provides assistance on an as needed basis to manage overflow access to information requests as well as temporary coverage in order to meet statutory requirements.
This role will be dealing with a variety of privacy compliance program, including drafting and reviewing privacy impact assessments for unionized employees that may impact confidential bargaining.
The position is responsible for designing and implementing privacy policies that impact employees including union.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
The competencies for this position are acquired through completion of a university degree in a related discipline, plus four
(4) years of recent, relevant experience with privacy regulatory requirements and compliance issues.
Other Requirements:
Advanced understanding of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Information Access & Protection of Privacy principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources when conducting reviews, investigations and assessments.
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrates ability to establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with internal clients and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously and prioritize workload to meet shifting deadlines.
Strong knowledge standard suite of Office Software.
Completion of a privacy related certificate program (e.g., CIPP/C, CIPM) would be an asset.
Experience in a law enforcement or policing environment would be an asset.

The salary for this position ranges from $75,600 to $113,400 per annum . Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
