This role will have direct impact on our business, with the primary goal of providing strategic and tactical planning for Capex plant projects through the adoption of innovative, value-add solutions. As the successful candidate for this role, you will be accountable for overall engineering project management and advanced technical support for engineering projects group wide. With a sound understanding of engineering fundamentals and their applications, you will be accountable to install, setup, troubleshoot and validate site specific projects as it relates to processes, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and overall strategic engineering and automation. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide initial project engineering due diligence for project concept and vendor diligence to vet what is being provided to ensure proper engineering, scope, capabilities and fitness for use.
  • Draft executable project charters and project plans working collaboratively with functional leader groups within finance, engineering, and management.
  • Develop a cogent project schedule, with key actions, deliverables and Milestones.
  • Select, assemble and engage project teams, to lead and organize project deliverables fostering collaboration.
  • Manage and coach through rigorous design reviews with both internal and external customers ensuring clear and concise communication throughout.
  • Use advanced knowledge and attention to detail applying engineering fundamental principles, in mechanical assemblies, material handling, facilities, controls, engineering software and machine design to evaluate process controls to select a variety of auxiliary equipment.
  • Implement and/or participate in the use of 3-Legged 5-Whys method of root cause analysis on production and engineering related issues.
WORLD CLASS MANUFACTURING (WCM) / EARLY PRODUCT MANAGEMENT (EPM)
  • Collaborate with R&D, the Group Plants, and key vendors to ensure the successful launch of new products and the reduction of losses due to design and execution weaknesses.
  • Lead cross functional design and review meetings, ensuring continuous improvement in time to capability and time to market metrics.
  • Develop and coordinate the MOC – management of change process as it relates to new products, process or equipment changes that impact finished goods processing.
  • Implementation of continuous improvement process in production.
Travel: up to 50% overnight within ON/QC

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering project management or similar role.
  • Established and proven Project Management Capability.
  • Demonstrated advanced quantitative and statistical analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of major systems including HVAC, electrical, controls, plumbing, lighting, docks, overhead/sliding doors and life safety.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment.
  • Experience with mechanical measuring, vibration and alignment techniques, and test equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, in teams and developing teams with excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Computer aided design and statistical software experience, such as AutoCAD and MiniTab.
  • PMP or P.Eng.
