Principal Engineer
to lead and oversee the
Facade Access Systems
product line.
You will join a collaborative Engineering group of 27 professionals, including Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Engineers - who design and develop bespoke systems that meet the unique requirements of global projects. This role plays a key leadership and technical role in driving complex engineering initiatives from concept through delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Facade Access Projects:
Own the full engineering scope for the facade access systems product line, from concept design through production and commissioning.
Technical Leadership:
Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to other engineers, ensuring best practices in mechanical design, structural analysis, and system integration.
Design & Development:
Develop detailed mechanical and structural designs using 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar), ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Innovation & Problem Solving:
Drive continuous improvement in product design, materials selection, and system performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Manufacturing, Electrical, and Controls teams to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability of designs.
Project Management:
Prepare design documentation, manage timelines, review drawings, and support customer-facing engineering reviews.
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure designs adhere to applicable safety, regulatory, and quality standards (CSA, ASME, OSHA, etc.).
Client Support:
Provide technical input during sales, proposal, and commissioning phases; support troubleshooting and field resolution when required.
Requirements:
Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering Degree.
P. Eng. or PE certification.
10+ years of relevant experience in heavy machinery design with application to civil works or construction.
Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MathCad, MS Office.
Strong capability in conceptualizing kinematic/dynamic solutions.
Good understanding of welding symbols, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analysis, complete sketches, layout drawings, production/working-level drawings, and machining and fabrication drawings.
Good understanding of custom design work of large-scale steel and aluminum fabricated machines, factory/industrial settings, civil and large infrastructure, field experience in construction, installation, or related work, and awareness of building codes and structural codes.
Demonstrable ability to perform algebraic calculations for weight, force, moment, and volume; apply those to drawings; and "size" components and parts.
Superior communication skills in English.
Canadian Citizenship or Permanent resident status enabling easy traveling to the USA for work.
