Position Summary
The Supportive Housing (SH) Primary Worker is a twenty-one hour a week role responsible for the implementation of programming and structure for women who reside within the Supportive Housing program at MHPPSS. Clients are pregnant and/or parenting and may have complex lives that require them to focus on personal and parenting skills. The SH Primary Worker needs to be able to work with women facing multifaceted challenges, using strengths-based interventions and develop positive professional relationships with the MHPPSS clients.

Qualifications
College or University degree, or equivalent experience working in the human services sector. Degree or diploma in social work, human services, child & youth work, psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Ability to work with clients to increase their personal assets, with an understanding of the mother/child dyad and how this impacts the infant's mental health.
Experience working with pregnant or parenting women and children, ideally in a supportive housing, transitional housing or community-housing environment.
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as cleaning the public areas of the SH facility, holding infants and children, moving furniture, organizing supplies and assist clients in parenting and life-skills areas.
Strong organizational, administrative skills (ability to maintain documentation, coordinate with multiple stakeholders).
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication skills: with clients, multidisciplinary team members, community partners.
Ability to supervise or support volunteers or peer mentors.
A valid driver's licence with adequate liability insurance and ability to travel locally may be required.
Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) up-to-date or willingness to obtain.
