Job Description

The Central Alberta FASD Network is a non-profit organization offering community-based, cost-free services to persons living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and their caregivers. We are part of a system-wide FASD Network model that has made Alberta a leader in service delivery, both in Canada and internationally. We offer education, prevention, assessment and diagnosis, and outreach and support services. We are seeking to grow our Prevention and Education Team with a Full-Time/Permanent Prevention and Education Facilitator for Red Deer and surrounding area.

Job Summary:



The Prevention Education Facilitator will provide FASD awareness, education, and prevention programming at all levels through training, networking, and public awareness events to build community capacity.

Summary of Duties:



Regularly connect with service providers, create and develop new partnerships, and maintain existing connections in the communities to provide ongoing FASD training, education and prevention programming.

Advertise FASD education and training opportunities provided by the Central Alberta FASD Network to communities in the Network's service area.

Represent the Central Alberta Network at community events and through public awareness activities.

Assist with fundraising and FASD Day events in communities served.

Attend Interagency and FASD Coalition meetings in communities served.

This position reports to the Executive Director.

Education and Qualifications:



Undergraduate degree or diploma in social work, social science, or related field and/or comparable experience with FASD, disabilities, mental health and addictions.

Experience in the community social services sector with demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and specialized services.

Minimum of 5 years work experience with vulnerable, marginalized or at-risk populations.

Extensive knowledge regarding FASD, disabilities, mental health and addictions.

Minimum of 5 years presenting to the public and facilitating public education and training events.

Commitment to a strength-based, client-centred approach.

Experience with public speaking, facilitation and leading groups.

Superior communication ability and interpersonal skills.

High level of personal integrity and ethical practice.

High degree of Indigenous cultural awareness.

Knowledge of community development processes and ability to enhance community capacity.

Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and tight timelines.

Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.

A vehicle and valid class 5 driver's license.

This is a permanent position. The position is 35 hours/week, Monday - Friday; flexibility will be required and the capacity to work occasional evenings and weekends.
