  • Hourly rate of $29.79 to $32.91
What you will be doing:
  • Act as the primary point person responsible for the condition and function of hotel guest rooms
  • Complete repairs and paint touch ups on the spot, escalating to trades specialists as required
  • Check plumbing, electrical, lighting, paint, caulking, drapery, blinds and heating/cooling
  • Complete long-term project work to improve the room product and guest experience
  • Use an electronic work order system to create, update, and complete work requests
  • Continuous process improvements aimed at improving the customer experience
  • Respond to guest and colleague maintenance issues in a timely fashion
  • Use toll and complete maintenance tasks to a high degree of quality
  • Sourcing and purchasing of material
  • Assist maintenance team members as required
  • Attend and lead meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:
  • A minimum of 1 year maintenance/construction experience in a professional shop
  • A minimum of 1 year supervising people and/or leading projects
  • Proven history of working well independently with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to excellent service and exceeding guests expectations
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong ability to use technology to complete tasks and do research
  • Ability to perform maintenance tasks with a high degree of quality
  • Team player with proven success in relationship building
  • A high level of responsibility and commitment
  • Ability to use tool proficiently and safely
  • Excellent organizational skills
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking
  • Frequent bending and kneeling
  • Frequently carrying and lifting
  • Occasional descending/ascending ladders and stairs
Note: The position of Building Maintenance Engineer is physically demanding and is a rotational shift position. The successful applicant must be willing to work a combination of days, nights, weekends and overtime as required. The successful applicant must be physically capable of standing/walking for 90% of shift, performing repetitive work, as well as lifting and carrying heavy loads. They must also be comfortable working outdoors in all elements.

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
