We are currently seeking a President to join our team.

The President is responsible for providing leadership, general management and direction of the operations of Retail Banking, Wealth and Commercial/Business Banking areas in one of the regions of First West. The role is responsible for developing and executing the regional strategic plan and operating plan. This includes leading the regional leadership team and establishing short, medium and long term goals and objectives. The position will work closely with the Chief Member Officer to ensure a harmonized approach where appropriate, and that overall business objectives related to regional services and sales are achieved. The President represents the "face of the region," developing and building relationships with businesses, local politicians, community leaders and other stakeholders, including the appointment and direction of a Regional Advisory Council and external community leaders.

Here's what would be included as a part of your typical day * Leadership: Lead, coach and develop the regional leadership team to optimize and deliver exceptional service and sales results. This includes growth of the business model by achieving the strategic goals of the organization. Lead the team to obtain short, medium and long term goals. Supports other operations such as First West Capital, First West Wealth and acts as a key liaise with Regional Shared Services teams. Support mergers and acquisitions by paying particular attention to key stakeholders such as members, regulators, Board members and local politicians.

  • Statutory Requirements: Ensure all statutory requirements for banking and wealth activities and reporting are met and action is immediately taken to correct any non-conforming situations. Instill that all members of the retail, wealth and commercial banking teams adhere to sound business practices as outlined by regulators and First West Executive.
  • Regional Operations: Ensure effective acquisition, allocation, and future planning of financial, human and physical resources required to achieve regional objectives defined in the strategic plans. Creates an environment of accountability and results orientation. Proactively leads and champions change.
  • Operational Efficiencies: Identify, champion and action opportunities to strengthen the operations of retail banking, wealth, and commercial banking and achieve synergies across regions.
  • Organizational Design: Develop, update and maintain an effective retail, wealth and commercial/ business banking structure that addresses current and future business needs.
  • Community Involvement: Seek opportunities to build networks and promote the credit union and the credit union system through community investment and modelling leadership in the community.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience required
  • 12+ years of progressive senior management experience in the financial services sector required
  • Minimum of 5 years of Senior or Executive leadership experience in a credit union preferred
  • Strategic orientation (business acumen, integration, develop action-orientated plans)
  • Ability to attract and motivate key talent; inspire others to perform to their highest potential
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, integrity, professionalism and trust
  • Ability to deliver results through people and teams
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to influence with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Able to build credibility and awareness in local communities, industries and agencies.
  • Broad operational and P&L responsibility.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and leading business practices.
  • Overnight travel is required multiple times per month
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
