When your actions lead to success.The role of the Prepress Technician is to process customer supplied PDF files through a PDF-based prepress workflow, create zone specific proofs to be approved by the CSR before going to press. The technician is to produce plates imposed and optimized for various presses.
  • Download from Job Assistant and ftp sites.
  • Assign an imposition to the customer\'s PDF, to modify impositions if required, reporting any known limitations that may arise at press.
  • Assemble and deliver digital (soft proof) or plot (hard proofs) and submit to CSR for approval.
  • Print and proof pages through Prinergy.
  • Identify and report any issues found with ripped Prinergy files and provide a possible solution.
  • To cut, fold, assemble proofs.
  • Upon approval of any proofs, output to a variety of devices including computer-to-plate (CTP), wide format plotters, to our production standards while meeting our production schedule.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform preventative maintenance on prepress equipment.
  • Check all plates for quality and accuracy, inventory counting and validation.

  • High school diploma, equivalent or combination of work experience.
  • College/secondary diploma or equivalent experience in Prepress an asset.
  • 2 years working experience.
  • Knowledge of imposition-dedicated software and Prepress equipment.
  • Proven skills in using computerized equipment.
  • Mac & PC publishing software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple jobs simultaneously while being priority driven.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Strong teamwork and communications skills (written & verbal).
  • High regard for safety and collaboration.
  • Positive attitude and a team player.
  • Time management, planning and organization skills.
  • Willing to learn and be part of a dynamic multi skilled team.
  • Flexible and able to work shifts, varied or steady schedules.
