The Prep and Cooking Station Operator is responsible for preparing cannabis base and cooking syrups according to pre-developed recipes. This role requires precise measurement and calculation of ingredients, accurate documentation and data entry, and strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Health Canada compliance requirements. Attention to detail is critical to ensuring consistent product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Major Position Accountabilities
- Prepare cannabis base and syrups by following established recipes and SOPs.
- Accurately weigh, measure, and calculate ingredients for each batch.
- Complete required paperwork, including batch records, logs, and QA documentation.
- Record all production data into designated software systems.
- Perform quality checks and collect samples as required by QA.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with GPP/GMP standards.
- Assist in receiving, labeling, and organizing raw materials when necessary.
- Communicate any deviations, errors, or quality concerns promptly to the Production Supervisor/Manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Good Production Practice (GPP) & Compliance
- Contribute to a culture of product quality, accuracy, and safety.
- Follow all regulatory and company policies related to cannabis production.
- Ensure consistent compliance with Health Canada, GMP, and workplace safety standards.
Relation With
Internal: Production Supervisor/Manager, QA, Admin/Office staff, Shipping, and Production staff.
External: Suppliers (if applicable).
Working Conditions
- Permanent, Full-Time position.
- Must wear company-provided protective clothing and PPE (e.g., jackets, hair/beard nets, steel toe boots).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb regularly.
- Requires standing for extended periods in a production environment.
Job Specifications
Education:
- Minimum high school diploma required.
- College education in Food, Cannabis Production, or related field is an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in food or cannabis production.
- Experience with recipe preparation, ingredient scaling, or batch production is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Strong math and calculation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel.
- Ability to follow written SOPs and regulatory requirements.
