Job Description


Capital Subaru is pleased to be Newfoundland and Labrador\'s only Subaru dealer, serving our customers from our location on Kenmount Road in St. John\'s. We strive to provide our customers with the most premium Subaru experience possible. The primary functions of a Preowned Assistant is to be responsible for the completion of all used vehicle reconditioning, while ensuring that the overall vehicle flow in the lot is as efficient and seamless as possible. This includes monitoring the car lot supply, movement and cleanliness, as well as fueling vehicles, moving vehicles around the lot for display changes and retrieving vehicles for sales and service customers. That\xe2\x80\x99s why we are looking for an organized, proactive, self-starter that is able to multi-task in a fast-paced, professional environment. Other requirements include:

  • Creating files for used vehicles, making sure they have the proper paperwork in them (Carfax report, due bill, etc.)
  • Creating Keytags for used vehicles, with all the proper information.
  • Keeping track of vehicle reconditioning process by updating the used vehicle recon log, keeping track of the time to market for every vehicle traded in, and once complete place online for sale.
  • Making sure all used vehicles have the proper signage for sale (Mirror hangers indicating the type of used vehicle it is, price sheets in every vehicle, corner windshield stickers)
  • Arrange for photos of each vehicle for the website.
  • Keeping track of vehicles taken from other dealerships for a test drive, sold units, etc.
  • Weekly tasks would be getting vehicles ready and bringing them to auction, updating price sheets with discounted or reduced prices, bringing used vehicles to the correct Capital dealer once traded in. Ex. BMW\xe2\x80\x99s brought to BMW St. John\xe2\x80\x99s.
  • Responsible for managing pre-owned inventory, having good knowledge of what vehicles are in stock, prices and trim levels, and location.
  • Keeps new and used vehicle lots neat and orderly, moving cars as directed and in accordance with dealership display standards.
  • Cleans driveway and sidewalks, removing snow and debris as necessary.
  • Helping out any managers when asked upon to do something whether it be involving new vehicles, used vehicles, dropping off or picking up vehicles (kind of minor lot attendant responsibilities)
  • Ensures safety policies, standards, and procedures are followed to achieve a safe work environment and safety for all staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned and as may be amended from time to time to meet company objectives.
Working Conditions:
  • Work environment in the automotive industry shall result in conducting tasks outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 preferred, will consider skills and competences of past experiences.
  • 1+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the automotive industry is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a Drivers abstract is required.
  • Certificate of Conduct required.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to effectively use computer programs with competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  • Excellent attendance is a must and consistently arrives to work on time.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods
