As a Preconstruction Manager working in the Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion - you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.
What you will do
Lead the preconstruction phase of local projects, developing detailed plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders.
Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and value engineering to optimize scope and budget.
Manage the bidding process, including subcontractor/vendor outreach, proposal evaluation, and contract negotiation.
Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings for accuracy and compliance.
Act as the primary client contact during preconstruction, providing updates and presenting cost-saving alternatives.
Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to define project goals and design criteria.
Supervise and mentor estimators, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Identify risks and opportunities, conduct feasibility studies, and implement process improvements to enhance preconstruction efficiency and success.
This role could be for you if you have
Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
5+ years of experience in preconstruction management, or lead estimation role with a focus on building and infrastructure construction projects.
A knack for working with construction estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Analyzing and problem-solving is what you do best! Your attention to detail and accuracy is like no other.
A passion for motivating and effectively leading a team where collaboration and mentorship are the keys to your success.
MUST be able to obtain a Government of Canada Secret level clearance as per project contractual requirements.
