Western Tractor Company Inc., a 4-store John Deere dealer located in Southern Alberta, is searching for a full time Precision Ag Specialist to join our growing John Deere agricultural equipment group for our Lethbridge location. Western Tractor is located at the center of an irrigated agricultural area that is known for the variety of specialty crops that it produces. Western Tractor's commitment to our basic values, customer focus and employee improvement are what has made us a dominant dealer and an "employer of choice".Job SummaryThe Precision Ag Specialist supports the organization and coordination of the Western Tractor Precision Ag department including sales of Value Added Services (VAS) and Agricultural Management Solutions (AMS) hardware, maintaining, training, diagnostics, repairs, miscellaneous FieldSmart (minor agronomic) support and customer satisfaction.Responsibilities

  • Build client relationships through prospecting & negotiation
  • Actively sell and promote Western Tractor Value Added Services packages
  • Provide support & analysis to Digital Farms in relation to production steps with collection of machine data and other agriculture technologies
  • Assist with coordination and administration of JDLink/Telematics and customer profiles
  • Assist with RTK maintenance and support
  • Provide product knowledge relative to the software and hardware on electronic monitoring and application systems of tractors, seeders, sprayers and combines
  • Understand proper machine settings for application conditions and crops providing recommendations based on analyzed information gathered directly from the relevant machines
  • Provide on and off-farm support and training for customers
  • Training resource to fellow specialists, technicians and sales professionals
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues including but not limited to displays, GPS application control, auto-guidance, row-guidance, telematics, section control, mapping, variable rate in-cab technology and precision harvesting systems software and/or hardware
  • Determine if field visits are required to resolve concerns through field validation/testing on outstanding product issues
  • Have significant insight and understanding of the market in your area and be familiar with the common types of precision operations as well as possible opportunities for technological upgrades
Experience and Training Requirements:
  • John Deere Precision Ag (GPS equipment) knowledge and operation skills
  • John Deere Precision Ag (GPS equipment) diagnostics and repair skills
  • John Deere product knowledge
  • Technical and mechanical competency with agriculture equipment
  • Customer focused individual with excellent communication skills
  • Excellent sales and closing skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong aptitude in information technology
