Job Description

UCN acknowledges that we are on the traditional

continuously maintained homelands in northern


Manitoba since time immemorial. The First


Nations in the area that UCN serves entered into

and the treaty 5 adhesion, and treaty 6 - located


within the treaty 5 adhesion). The territory has

DUTIES

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Mihcet Meskanawah Teaching and Learning (MMTL), UCN requires an instructor to implement the


Pathway to Post-Secondary Education program. The Pathway to Post-Secondary Education (PPSE) instructor applies a learner-centered


approach to support students in their transition to post-secondary education. PPSE instructor works as part of an instructional team to


deliver courses, provide academic support, and introduce students to the culture of post-secondary education. The instructor cultivates a


learning environment that supports learners holistically and ensures that students are equipped to thrive at UCN.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

o Bachelor of Education Degree; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered


Experience teaching or working with adult and Indigenous individuals Experience working collaboratively as part of a team Ability to create a positive working or learning environment Understanding of cultural and language influences specific to adult learners in Northern communities Understanding of wrap-around supports to ensure student success Strong communication and interpersonal skills Effective time management skills Commitment to supporting students attaining educational goals Commitment to life-long learning
