Primary Duties
The Powerline Technician constructs, maintains and repairs overhead and underground distribution system infrastructure. They will perform switching operations, troubleshoot issues and respond in emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Construct electrical infrastructure to proper engineered drawings and plans.
2. Complete repairs or replacement of switches, insulators, transformers, load break centres, terminations and other infrastructure.
3. Complete pre-trip inspections on commercial vehicles prior to use and operate heavy equipment required to complete work.
4. Respond to outages and emergencies consistent with required response times.
5. Complete all required documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
6. Inspect electrical infrastructure to identify and diagnose issues before failures can occur.
7. Troubleshoot issues and decide on the most effective solution.
8. Collaborate with team members to discuss repair/construction work and required safety precautions.
9. Comply with all health and safety requirements, maintain a safe work environment, report hazards and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
