We\'re looking for new talent to join us as we transform BC\'s energy future. Our diverse team of more than 2,600 employees is committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong and grow. Join us and let\'s work together for a better BC.

Position Overview

You\'re a passionate analytical modelling expert with excellent coding skills, particularly in SQL, Python, R, and PowerBI. You enjoy working with large data sets, such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure data, and can conceptualize complex data models and create documentation using your extensive MS Visio experience. If this sounds like you, we need your expertise in our Power Supply Planning Specialist role.

In this position, you\'ll use your dynamic skills to build and defend models for various electrification scenarios, investigate how the gas and electric utilities can work together to achieve decarbonization goals, and develop in-depth analyses to support regulatory filings.

In this role, you will:

  • Learn the objectives of the Integrated Gas and Electric Heating (IGEH) study.
  • Help create specific deliverables set out in the cross-functional, executive-sponsored IGEH study project.
  • Establish connections with stakeholders from various departments within the company.
  • Work in collaboration with the IGEH project team to review and improve on a draft design, and then implement the technical model.
  • Perform scenario analysis with the developed model to investigate and demonstrate the value of the gas and electric utilities working together in greater cooperation.
  • Preparing technical reports for filing to the British Columbia Utilities Commission to support the Company\'s position.
What it takes:
  • A bachelor degree in engineering, computer science, or economics, with a specialization in data analytics, and a minimum of four years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Advanced statistical, modeling, and analytics capabilities are required, and a graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to big data is desirable, including proven capabilities with SQL, Python, R, PowerBI, Denodo, and Snowflake programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with clustering algorithms, exposure to regression models, and timeseries forecasting is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional computer science skills with the ability to organize and understand large data sets.
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to produce materials suitable for publication in a regulatory proceeding.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
